Gul: Annan plan should be negotiated

ANKARA (AA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said today that the report prepared by his ministry would be presented to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan next week and he added that at this stage, there was no alternative except negotiating United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan’s Cyprus plan.

Gul stated that Annan plan has to be talked. He stated that the plan had to be negotiated but it wouldn’t mean accepting as whole.

Foreign minister stressed that the Greek side would be a full member of the European Union in May 2004 and in that case, Turkey would find a new state in the EU against itself.

He said, "The Cyprus clause is interested in 70 million people. So we have to solve it."
