Greek union halts Summer Olympic work
Athens was paralyzed as thousands of workers took a one-day action to push their demand for an 8 percent pay hike, the BBC reported.
The International Olympic Committee has frequently warned Athens cannot afford to lose even a single day of construction after years of delays.
Among particular worries is a planned 16,000 ton, $147 million glass-and-steel dome over the main stadium and its track — neither of which have been completed.
Only 24 of 38 Olympic venues have so far been completed, and the main stadium is not predicted to be finished until July 20.
Olympic venues need to be ready for the start of the Games on Aug. 13.
