Greek Pre-Election Poll Inconclusive

According to pre-election polls, it is too close to call ahead of time, and the result will only become clear late in the day. The polls showed New Democracy Party [NDP] in the lead with 3 points. But political observers are confident that the Panhellenic Socialist Movement Party (PASOK) will lose the elections.

Both PASOK General Director Yorgo Papandreu and NDP leader Costas Caramanlis expressed support for Turkey’s EU membership during the election campaigns.
