Greek PM: Cypriots peace deal is a must
Costas Karamanlis said the leaders of the two communities must overcome their differences, that include matters of territorial exchange and the right to return to homes abandoned in the partition that followed a catastrophic 1974 war.
Kramanlis’s words were lent particular poignancy by the approach of a second, key stage of the United Nations-sponsored talks beginning on Monday of next week. At that point NATO member "motherlands" Greece and Turkey, who had in the past come to the brink of war over Cyprus, enter the talks.
