Government Speeds Up EU Schedule
Gul went on to say that laws approved within the European Union harmonization process should definitely be implemented. "If a law we approved is not being enforced, then that means there is responsibility and a crime. Measures are being taken in this regard."
The Secretariat General for the EU will present the draft National Program to the government on June 15. The new program will contain some amended dates regarding the accession process. The revised Accession Partnership Document had set the application schedule as 2003-2004 for the short term and 2005 for the mid term. Turkey will try to move these dates forward, with the final date scheduled for 2004 in the mid term.
