German Army withdraws from Kuwait

German Minister of Defense Peter Struck also said that the team of International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) established to assist the Afghan Transitional Authority in maintaining security in that country and to winning the confidence of the Afghan public, would not be donating heavy tanks to the region, following the bomb attack that caused the death of 4 German soldiers. Corpses of the soldiers killed in a suicide attack on a ISAF convoy last Saturday were brought to Germany after a farewell ceremony in Kabul. Minister Struck and Prime Minister Gerhard Schroeder said that the assignments of the German Armed Forces, providing approximately half of the ISAF troops presently deployed in Kabul, would continue.
