Frightening Scenes In Turkey As Fan Violently Attacks Goalkeeper With Corner Flag | Balls.ie
There were frightening scenes earlier during a football match in Turkey between Goztepe and Altay, with a fan running onto the pitch and attacking the Altay goalkeeper with a corner flag.
It was a TFF 1 League game – the second tier of Turkish football – and a result of the incident and other crowd trouble, the match was suspended.
The clip below shows a stoppage in play and an ambulance on the pitch, while a fan sprints across the pitch and violently hits the keeper with the plastic pole, before he is soon swallowed up by players and officials.
Turkey have expressed a desire to bid to host the European Championships in 2028, with the UK and Ireland having already confirmed their bid.
Crowd trouble like this will certainly not help their case.
