France Rejects Privileged Partnership

The Union of Democratic France (UDF) submitted a proposal demanding a "privileged partnership" instead of full membership for Turkey at a meeting held at the Foreign Affairs Commission on the evening of November 2nd.The proposal was rejected by Commission vote. UDF Leader Francois Bayrau made a statement that harshly rejected Turkey’s full membership in the EU. He said he would, at every opportunity, continue to address the parliament and the senate with a demand for a "privileged partnership" for Turkey rather than full membership.
