France Pleas for Release of Journalists

Al-Jazeera TV broadcast video of the hostages and disclosed the names of the kidnapped as George Malbrunot and Christian Chestnot. The kidnappers demanded that France abolish the headscarf ban in French schools. The militants gave Paris 48 hours to comply with their wishes.

Members of the French government met with representatives of France’s Muslim community in Paris today.
