FM Erdogan receives US ambassador Edelman

NKARA (AA) – US Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman said on Wednesday that he presented the letter of US President George W. Bush to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which he congratulated his new year.

Both US President Bush and also other officials were looking forward to the visit of Prime Minister Erdogan to Washington D.C., said Edelman.

Prime Minister Erdogan received Edelman the same day.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Edelman said that he had a long and good meeting with Prime Minister Erdogan, adding that he brought the letter of US President Bush to him.

Edelman said that the news published in the Turkish press today were not correct, adding that neither the news regarding the time, period of the meeting to be held between Bush and Erdogan was true, nor the news regarding the programme of Prime Minister in Washington D.C. was true. The visit of Prime Minister Erdogan to Washington D.C. would be very intensive and constructive, said Edelman, adding that the details of the visit were being discussed. The details of the visit would become clearer in time, he added.
