First EU Delegation Comes in January

During the delegation’s visit, it will meet with the common observation committee, and collect information about developments in the Turkish economy, information which the EU will use when deciding on Turkey’s financial aid package.

The visit will determine the scope of the 1 billion 50 million euro aid package the EU Commission may give to Turkey, as well as Turkey’s economic activities during the adaptation process. The EU Commission delegation will benefit from reports and examinations from the World Bank, the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund.

For the negotiation process, the EU Commission will enlarge and expand the role of Turkish representatives to the EU Commission. Experts predict that after the screening process starts, the EU will approve a raise in the amount of unsecured aid.
