First contingent of Spanish troops leave Iraq

Spanish forces start leaving Iraq following Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero’s declaration that all his troops would be withdrawn from the region. Military convoys include armoured cars, trucks and buses. Strict security at the scene.

Spanish troops are expected to leave Iraq in a staggered exercise expected to last until the end of May.
