‘Female Hawk’ Rice One Step Closer To Office

During the two days of her confirmation sessions, Democrat members pressured Rice a great deal about the Iraq war in which she is viewed as one of the leading actors. The answers of Rice were not "highly" satisfactory. During the questioning, a warning by defeated presidential candidate Senator John F. Kerry’s directed to Rice that "Kirkuk could explode because of the returning Kurds" was taken a step further by Senator Joseph Biden who commented: "because of a possible turmoil, Turks and Iraqi Kurds

could fight."

Barbara Boxer and John F. Kerry became the two Democrat senators to vote against Rice and they asked tough questions to the "female hawk" inviting her to "face the facts." In the session yesterday, Boxer asked Rice to admit her role in the death of soldiers

and the misinformation of the American people. Rice in return admitted her role in the run-up to the war.

Meanwhile, Colin Powell completing his four year term as the Secretary of State said farewell to the office to the applause of his Department staff and in his speech used military jargon saying, "You are my units, you are the units of America."
