Explosions near INC Convention Center
A Reuters news agency correspondent in the region reports that five explosions occurred near the Green zone during the preparations for the opening session. The Green zone is where coalition headquarters and government buildings are located.
The US Army confirmed the blasts and said that a check point was hit by mortars. One person was wounded in the attack.
The Iraqi National Council last month determined its 81 members. 19 additional members chosen from among US-appointed temporary governing council personnel who have no duty in government were then added to the council.
