Explosion Recalls Civil War Years in Beirut

Security sources report that a truck loaded with bombs exploded in the vicinity of the Sin al Fil trade center in the Dikvana region, a Christian neighborhood in the eastern part of Beirut. Arabic channels including Al Arabiye and Al-Jazeera reported that the explosion was a bombed attack, based on Lebanese sources. The anti-Syrian opposition in the country claim Lebanese security officials supported by Damascus were responsible for the explosion, which disrupted Easter celebrations of Christians. Three people were killed and 16 people injured in the attacks, which brought back memories of the Lebanese civil war between 1975-1990.
