Explosion at Moscow Metro Entrance

Eyewitnesses reported that a car exploded a few minutes after it pulled up close to the entrance. Metal objects such as screws were added to the bomb to increase the amount of devastation.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) reports that the attack might have been a suicide attack carried out by a woman. An official from the Internal Ministry backs that claim, saying that it could have been a female suicide bomber or a bomb planted in the vicinity.

A group named the "Islambuli Brigades" claimed responsibility for the attack. A notice published on a website reads, "We, the Islambuli Brigades, undertook these attacks as a show of support to the Muslims in Chechnya."

The group adds that the attacks against Russia would continue.

The same group claimed responsibility for the twin plane attacks in Russia last week. 89 people lost their lives after two passenger planes exploded simultaneously in midair last week.
