Euro Turks Stronger than 8 New Members

According to a study by the Research Center of Turkey, the contribution of the 3.9 million European Turks to the Union’s economy is more than 70 Billion Euro. The Turkish population in Europe has an economic power 16 times that of Malta, 10 times that of Estonia and 8 times that of Lithuania. The Turks are expected to reach a population of 4.9 million in Europe by 2007.

The research also found that Turkey, in its present condition, would be the 7th largest country in E.U. of 25. Assuming it becomes a member, it would constitute 14 percent of the 550 million population of a 28 member EU.
