EU to reevaluate conditions if Greeks say ‘no’

"We believe that the interest of everyone in Cyprus will be maintained upon the E.U. membership of a United Cyprus on May 1," said Irish Foreign Minister Brian Cowen, speaking on behalf of the European Union (EU) Presidency. He emphasized that there is a historical occasion before the people of Cyprus.

Cowen, speaking at an informal meeting of Foreign Ministers, said that E.U. has yet to take an expansive decision about what it will do if the Greek side says ‘No’ in the referendum. Cowen disclosed that only the Greek side would be a member if the Greeks say ‘No’ but Turks say ‘Yes’.
