Ertug: TRNC can’t sacrifice its state and freedom

WASHINGTON (AA) – Osman Ertug who is Turkish Cyprus’ representative in Washington said today that the TRNC couldn’t sacrifice its freedom and state in the cause of a document which was not realistic.

In response to US’ special Cyprus envoy Thomas Weston’s writing in Washington Times saying that if Turkey would like to be a member of the EU it had to find a resolution to division of Cyprus, Ertug stated that UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s plan and pledges regarding TRNC’s free trade with other countries were not realistic.
