Erdogan Warns Greece
Erdogan is paying an official visit to Greece and its West Thrace region, where Turkish-origin Greeks live. This will be the first visit by a Turkish PM to Gumulcine, after 51 years.
Efforts of Greek authorities to impose the Moftis selected by the government , to the program of Erdogan and an invitation extended to them by the Macedon Agriculture Minister to attend the luncheon he will host for Erdogan, will cast a shadow on the visit.
Former Greek Foreign minister had caused a diplomatic crisis when he invited the government-elected Moslem clerics to a dinner he hosted for Abdullah Gul. Turkey then protested this gesture.
In spite of the Laussane Treaty, Greece does not allow its Turkish minority to select its own Moslem clerics and imposes its own Moftis.
