Erdogan Suggests Turkey May Ratify Sweden’s NATO Bid Latest in Fall

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to speed up the ratification of Sweden’s membership of NATO when his country’s parliament returns from a two-month summer recess but continued to pile further pressure on the Nordic country.

Erdogan, speaking on Wednesday at the end of a NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, said his government would submit a bill on Sweden’s membership after Stockholm shares a new plan about cracking down on Kurdish separatist groups.
