Erdogan: All Illegal Buildings to be Demolished

On board on his way to Izmir for his local election campaign, Erdogan told Hurriyet that Erdogan was very angry at illegal constructions which spread especially before the elections.

During his long chat with Hurriyet, Erdogan gets excited when the topic is urbanization and municipalities. As a former mayor of Istanbul, Erdogan gives account about plans to expand Istanbul towards Catalca.

Let Us Implement French Model

As Hurriyet reminded him about a recent ruling of ECHR, sustaining the Turban Ban in Turkey, Erdogan said “Something is strange here. How come a court ruling is leaked to the press before it is finalized?” Hurriyet told him that this was a journalist success of its Brussels correspondent Zeynel Lule.

Asked by Turkey on whether his government will adopt the ECHR decision, after the high court ban turban at university, he said “We have first look at the justification of the court.” His answer was neither a Yes nor a No.

Then, Erdogan says something interesting, “We can implement the new system launched in France. I reviewed the system in France very carefully. There is no ban on turban in universities France, but only in primary, middle and high public schools. Not in private schools. We can implement the same system. “As soon as he made his remark, the P.M: says “Not us, but you will solve the turban issue. Go and ask this question to CHP, not us. They are flirting with turban, during the election rallies, and later on, telling the opposite. “

Hurt by Spanish PM Aznar

Asked whether he did not plan to attend the mass rally in Madrid after the March 11 raids, Erdogan said that he wanted to attend, but could not, because of his heavy election schedule. He says “I am also hurt by the former Spanish PM Aznar. I called him five times after the Madrid raids. But he did not return to me. I wanted to convey my feelings of solidarity to him.

That hurt me because the one who called him was the prime minister of the Republic of Turkey.”
