English midfielder Phillips moves to Manchester City on 6-year contract
ISTANBUL
English midfielder Kalvin Phillips joined Manchester City from Leeds United on a six-year deal, the Sky Blues announced on Monday.
“City have again proved to be the best team in the country with an amazing squad and a manager in Pep Guardiola who is rightly considered to be the finest in the world,” Philips said in a statement.
“Now I can’t wait to get started and to look to try and help the team to go on and achieve more success,” he added.
The 26-year-old player helped Leeds United win the second-tier of English football title in the 2019-20 season.
Philips produced 14 goals and as many assists in 234 matches over the course of eight seasons with Leeds.
He also amassed 23 caps for the English national team.
