Enercon bags 260-MW wind turbine order from Kalyon Enerji in Turkey

Germany’s Enercon GmbH said that it has signed an agreement with Turkish energy business Kalyon Enerji to supply its turbines for 260 MW of wind farm projects in Turkey.

The purchase order calls for the delivery and installation of 64 of Enercon’s E-138 EP3 wind turbines, which will pop up in sites in Elazig, Bilecik, Bayburt, Ankara and Trabzon regions of Turkey.

The projects were successful in Turkey’s Renewable Energy Resources Zone tender programme, locally known as YEKA RES-3, in June 2022. Kalyon Enerji will develop and operate the wind farms in line with the tender specifications, the German wind turbine maker said.

All the main components of the E-138 EP3 series, except the nacelles, are manufactured locally.

“Turkiye remains a strategic market for us. We will continue to expand our footprint in the country. […] Our collaboration within the YEKA framework will further strengthen Turkiye’s renewable energy strategy and energy transformation targets and will continue to contribute to the development of employment and skilled human resources by enhancing wind power generation”, commented ENERCON CCO Ulrich Schulze Sudhoff.

In 2022, Enercon secured the entire 1,000-MW turbine order for wind projects awarded in the YEKA RES-2 programme thanks to a partnership with local investor and operator Enerjisa Uretim.
