El-Sisi pardons Egyptian researcher Patrick Zaki: Lawyers

Patrick Zaki had been sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday after being accused of spreading ‘false news’.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has pardoned detained human rights researcher Patrick Zaki and lawyer Mohamed El-Baqer, two lawyers and a source in the presidency have said.

The reports came on Wednesday, a day after Zaki had been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of spreading “false news”.
