Efforts to include TRNC in EU archetype of pressure

Denktas, who received a group of university students, said that December 14 general election in TRNC was a national issue.

TRNC President Denktas noted that they were on a separation of path and said that some called on Turkish Cypriots to walk on another path than their national path.

Denktas said that the forthcoming general election was a national issue and it was beyond election of ministers or prime minister.

"That is; will we end Cyprus, our state, sovereignty, freedom, Turkey’s rights on Cyprus and its statue as guarantor state by the Annan plan and EU path or will we continue our national path by preserving all these principles and saying that we want compromise under equal conditions?" Denktas said.

Denktas stated that EU was not on the agenda when they started to debate Cyprus issue.

The Greek Cypriots, who harmed the balance on the island, illegally applied to EU to deteriorate the balance abroad, to deteriorate Turkey’s rights as guarantor state and Turkish-Greek balance on Cyprus, Denktas noted.

Denktas pointed out that the West was determined to give Cyprus to Greek Cypriots and Greece.

"Then, they will use it for their own interests. To use it for their own interests, they will push Turkey and the soldiers out of the island. This is their mega-plan," Denktas said.

Denktas drew attention that TRNC was wanted to be cornered by EU schedule and stressed that EU was put forth as a target, but the prior target was compromise.

Efforts aiming to include TRNC in European Union (EU) schedule was the archetype of pressure, Denktas noted.

Denktas said that saying that "they would demolish the state" after foundation of the state necessitated big courage.

"State is like the birth of a child. It is born by blood, cries and pain and others help it survive. As how a big murder killing a child is, saying that ‘it is my target to end the state’ which was born, has existed and has reached the age of 20 is an open confession like saying that ‘I will commit a murder.’ They should not do this. State was born by blood. Turkey’s status as guarantor state is fortunate for us. We should not lose it," Denktas said.

Denktas stated that Americans and Britons intervened in TRNC elections and it was a big shame.

Transparent elections would be the best for everybody, Denktas said.

Denktas warned that there could be many provocations till the elections and asked the citizens especially the young citizens not to be affected by those provocations and be calm.
