Effects of war ‘would cost Turkey $28bn’

The World Bank said last week that rapid economic reform to its shaky economic fundamentals is now the only way that Turkey can protect itself from the potentially devastating economic effects of a war.
Johannes Linn, the World Bank’s representative in Europe and Central Asia, warned that from the point of view of the Turkish economy and others in the region, a war was a deeply unfavourable prospect.
"Frankly we hope for the region and Turkey that there will not be a war."
