Economic Promises for 3 Years

Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener held a press conference with Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan and State Minister Ali Babacan, disclosing the PrexAccession Economic Program of Turkey.

Sener said that the program submitted to the European Commission a day before, was also the basis of the 3-year agreement to be drawn with IMF.

Sener listed teh objectives of the program to further the prosperity of the society and to improve the economic structure. The main targets to attain these goals, were listed by Sener as; A growth rate of 5 % in the term between 2004 and 2007; new jobs for 1.600 thousand people; Increasing per capita purchasing power; Reducing inflation to 4 %; Lessening public deficit; Reducing the rate of the public gross debt invetory to GNP to 68.3 %; Increasing tourist revenues to 21 bililon dollars by 2007; Reducing differences of development between the regions.
