Earthquake In Tunceli

PULUMUR MAYOR COSKUN: THERE IS DAMAGE IN MOST OF THE BUILDINGS
Pulumur Mayor Mesut Coskun said that there was damage in most of the buildings in Pulumur township in southeastern Tunceli province, and that they urgently needed tents. Coskun said damage was recorded in most of the buildings mainly in state institutions. Stating that the citizens could not enter their houses because of damage, Coskun said, ”nobody can enter their houses although the weather is very cold. We urgently need tents.”
Meanwhile, it was reported that two boarding students jumped out of the building in Pulumur Primary School, and they were slightly injured.

ERGEZEN: WE SHOULD THANK GOD THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE DEAD PERSON IN QUAKE MEASURING 6.5
Public Works and Housing Minister Zeki Ergezen said that only one person died in the quake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale and they thanked God for this. Ergezen, who carried on his inspections in Pulumur township of eastern Tunceli province, received information from Tunceli Governor Mustafa Erkal and other officials.
Addressing reporters, Ergezen said that necessary measures were taken and helicopters flew over unreached villages in order to see the dimensions of the disaster and tents will be pitched in necessary places.
Noting that he gave directions to send 150 containers to the region, Ergezen said that there was no shortage of water and food in the region. Tunceli Governor Mustafa Erkal said that they could not reach five villages now, but they would reach there by helicopters. He added that all village roads around Pulumur were open and telephone and electricity lines were not damaged.
Noting that a total of 200 tents would be sent from Erzurum and Erzincan provinces to the region, Erkal said that all the health officials were ready to work. Ergezen later held a meeting with officials at the Gendarme Headquarters.
A TOTAL OF 30 AFTERSHOCKS RECORDED IN PULUMUR
A total of 30 aftershocks were recorded following the massive earthquake that jolted Pulumur town of eastern Tunceli province early on Monday morning.
Officials from Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory Center and Seismology Institute said that 30 aftershocks ranging between 3.0 and 4.2 on the Richter scale were recorded in Pulumur from 7.26 a.m. to 5.57 p.m.
