Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Consulate General of Türkiye in Chengdu
On June 13, 2023, the Consulate General of Türkiye in Chengdu held the opening ceremony. Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province Yang Xingping as well as Ambassador of Türkiye to China Dr. İsmail Hakkı Musa and Consul General of Türkiye in Chengdu Mehmet Mert Tokman, among others, were present.
Wu Xi, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech and noted that 2023 marks the beginning of China’s full implementation of the guiding principles laid down at the 20th CPC National Congress. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China is promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, which has also brought new opportunities for practical cooperation between China and Türkiye. Wu Xi expressed her belief that the establishment of the Consulate General will build a new bridge for friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Türkiye.
Yang Xingping said that the opening of the Consulate General will create more opportunities for sub-national exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan Province and Türkiye. Sichuan Province stands ready to work with Türkiye to further deepen cooperation in various fields and carry forward China-Türkiye “Silk Road friendship”.
Ambassador Musa thanked the Chinese side for its strong support for the opening of the Consulate General, saying that Türkiye is ready to firmly grow the bilateral relationship and believes that the opening of the Consulate General will help bilateral relations achieve more results.
