Dervis Resigns from CHP

Even though he had no political background in Turkey, Dervis was brought to Turkey in the aftermath of the 2001 economic crisis and appointed as the State Minister Responsible for Economy. Prior to that he had been employed as a senior official at the World Bank, where he had worked since 1978.
