Daum Signs Contract With Fenerbahce

”I want to thank the club management for trusting me that I can bring them to the highest level. Besides, I want to thank all Fenerbahce supporters and their families. The messages I have received so far prove that Turkey is my second homeland,” he said.

The 50-year-old coach was once the Germany coach-elect but lost that opportunity and was fired by his club Bayer Leverkusen three years ago after testing positive for cocaine.

Daum became Fenerbahce’s tenth coach since Aziz Yildirim took over as chairman of the club in 1998, replacing stand-in trainer Tamer Guney.

Daum has had two previous spells with Besiktas, who he took to third in the superleague in 2001-2002 before resigning.
