Cyprus: TRNC Demands Compensation

A list of some houses and lands, which belonged to Turks formerly but then expropriated by the Greek Cypriot Administration, was prepared. Those, whose names are in the lists that will be posted in the headmen’s offices, will be able to demand compensation from Greek Cyprus. The appeals to the Greek Cypriot courts will be made by the attorneys employed by the Turkish Cyprus charge-free. There are names of 688 Turkish Cypriots on the list formed by scanning the official gazettes in Greek Cyprus. This list reveals that 447 lands of Turks were expropriated in 2002 only, and for the first two months of 2003, this number is 241.
