Cyprus: Excuses of Papadopulous
Greek Cypriot daily Politis reported that the Greek Cypriot National Council is not informed of the secret memorandum of Papadopulous.
In his document, the Greek Cypriot leader demanded 11 radical amendments on the Annan Plan to accept it and he listed his oppositions as;
– The existence of Turkish troops in the island till the end
– Continuation of the guarantorship of Turkey
– Difficulties in issues which especially required cooperation with Turkey
– The right of “Settlers” to vote in the referendum
– Enabling Turkish citizens to continue settling in Cyprus
– The state model proposed by the Annan Plan
– Violation of the basic human rights in the long run
– Unsafe provision for the return of immigrants
– Greek Cypriots paying the bill of “The occupation” (Meaning, the 1974 operation of Turkey which was prompted by a coup by Greek Cypriots to annex the island to Greece)
– Exclusion of Cyprus from the European policy for security and defense.
TOURIST WARNING
Meanwhile the Greek Cypriot Parliament adopted a decision in which, tourists coming to the South from the TRNC will be deemed to have made illegal entry. The Southern Cyprus Administration announced that it will impose sanctions on people entering the South, from TRNC.
