Copenhagen criteria only condition for Turkey

The summit, scheduled for June 17-18, is to rely on the European Commission’s progress report on Turkey as to whether it will decide that the conditions of the Copenhagen criteria have been met.
The declaration gives a positive picture regarding Turkey and points to the constitutional changes made in May, saying that these indicate the will of Ankara to make the necessary reforms to meet the criteria.
The declaration say that Turkey has also maintained adherence to the program of macro-economic, economic stability and structural reforms needed to bring it into line with EU standards.
Ankara’s efforts to resolve the dispute in Cyprus have also been praised in the declaration.
