Constitutional Amendment Not that Easy
Democrat Party leader and Foreign Minister Serdar Denktas said the issue was no longer just a matter of three ministers and that if a verdict ran contrary to the Constitutional Court, efforts would be made to amend the related article in the constitution.
Republican Turkish Party leader and Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat said, “The Constitutional Court will decide on the DP three ministers. Please let’s be patient till then.”
Making a statement in the first Cabinet Council of the coalition government, Serdar Denktas said that a two-thirds parliament majority was not sufficient to make the necessary constitutional amendment; a referendum was needed.
