Confident Ihsanoglu to Bring ‘Action’ to OIC

The new OIC Secretary-General emphasized that the democratic election method is healthy and that it will reinforce the Organization. "We want the Organization to be more active. There is a lack of experts. We will remove this. We have projects and are ready."

Ihsanoglu indicated that the Office of Secretary-General would not be moved to Jeddah. "A democratic decision was taken," he said. "Countries might have different views; however, we will act in accordance with each other."

When asked whether or not the Saudis opposed his election, Ihsanoglu reminded, "Saudi Arabia has a significant place in the history of the Organization. I have been working within the OIC structure. I have not seen the Organization spend the financial support from Saudi Arabia on different purposes and this will continue as is."
