Cargo ships run aground while entering Istanbul straits
ISTANBUL (AA) – A Russian-flagged cargo ship ran aground while it was entering the Istanbul Strait.
Sources told the A.A correspondent early on Friday that the Russian-flagged ship, "Strontsiy", which was sailing from Russia to Greece anchored off Turkeli region as Istanbul Strait was closed to transit passages due to bad weather conditions.
The Russian-flagged cargo ship which is 2 thousand 481 gross tons in weight and 100 meters in overall length ran aground due to storm.
Officials said that teams were trying to rescue 11-member crew of the ship after they were informed about the accident.
A NORTH KOREAN SHIP RUNS AGROUND WHILE ENTERING ISTANBUL STRAIT
A North Korean cargo ship ran aground while it was entering Istanbul Strait.
Sources told the A.A correspondent that the North Korean cargo ship, "Lujin 1", loaded with scrap iron started to adrift due to bad weather conditions.
The ship which is 3 thousand 884 gross tons in weight and 97 meters in overall length ran aground off Aslanburnu region.
Teams are trying to rescue 15-member crew of the ship.
