British to be Released from Guantanamo
British Foreign Minister Jack Straw made an announcement at the House of Commons and said: "The US has accepted to return us the four British prisoners at Guantanamo." Straw indicated that the prisoners might be put into jail based on a law in the fight against terror when they turn return to Great Britain.
The US released five British detainees last March. Those five prisoners returned to their country, and were released by British authorities after they were interrogated.
Straw noted that the release of the prisoners is the result of a long negotiation. British Prime Minister Tony Blair had a private talk with US President George W. Bush regarding the release of the British prisoners. The names of the four British prisoners are reportedly Muazzam Begg, Feroz Abbasi, Martin Mubanga and Richard Belmar.
