Boston Globe Recognizes So-Called Armenian Genocide

The Federation of Turkish-American Associations in the US started an immediate campaign against the Globe’s decision. Federation President Kayaalp Buyukataman called for Turks living in the US to bombard Globe Editor Michael J. Larkin with telephone, fax and e-mail messages.
A member of the same publishing group as the New York Times, The Boston Globe wrote, “From now on, in our newspaper editions, we will recognize the Armenian Genocide.” The decision reportedly resulted from lobbying by Boston’s Armenian community and its close contacts with the paper’s administration.
