Bob Jungels wins 9th stage of Tour de France in career first


ANKARA

Luxembourg’s Bob Jungels clinched the first Tour de France stage win of his career on Sunday as he took the ninth stage.

Jungels from the AG2R Citroen reached the victory after finishing 193-kilometers (120-mile) stage from Aigle in Switzerland to Chatel in France in four hours, 49 minutes and 36 seconds.

Spaniard Jonathan Castroviejo for the Ineos Grenadiers team came second, while his compatriot Carlos Verona from Movistar completed the race in the third place.

Defending champion Pogacar, who came fifth in the race, is still at the top of the general ranking, extending his yellow jersey lead to 39 seconds.

The 10th stage of Tour de France, a 148-km (92-mile) ride, will be run from Morzine Les Portes Du Soleil – an area between France and Switzerland – to Megeve in France on Tuesday.
