Blair Rejects Resignation Calls

Blair made the statements yesterday to British SKY TV in Japan. “The government is my responsibility. I will definitely continue my job,” he said. Blair promised full cooperation with any commission investigating the circumstances of Dr. Kelly’s death, stating that all government documents and members would be accessible to the commission.

Blair called Kelly’s death, "a terrible personal tragedy". A poll conducted by SKY TV after Kelly’s death Friday showed that 60 percent of the British public believe Blair should resign.

Meanwhile, the British Broadcast Corporation (BBC), the government’s opponent in the political affair which surrounds Kelly’s death, issued a statement yesterday admitting that Dr. Kelly was the source for the BBC’s reports that the Blair government manipulated intelligence reports on Iraq.
