‘Biggest Ever Corruption Possible in Iraq’
IT’s global corruption report was released on Wednesday (March 16). Based in the German capital Berlin, the organization has criticized US implementations in Iraq. The report includes special sections for 40 countries including Turkey. Transparency Movement Association (TSHD) in Turkey CEO Ercis Kurtulus prepared the Turkish section of the report, which shed a light on corruption within the construction sector, particularly during the time of the earthquakes.
The second part of the IT report focuses on corruption within the restructuring of Iraq following the wars in the region including the Iraq war. Kurtulus says the report points out that governments and international organizations providing financial aid and credit in Iraq should be extremely careful to protect against corruption especially with regard to important contracts and projects. If urgent measures are not taken, the greatest corruption scandal in history will take place in Iraq, the report emphasized.
