Belusconi: Europe is a whole of values

ROME (AA) – Silvio Berlusconi, President of Italia, which carried out the European Union term-presidency, said today that the EU is a whole of values.

Addressing intergovernmental conference, which gathers the member and the candidate countries together, Berlusconi said, “Europe’s real identity can neither be reduced to geography nor to changeable borders.”

“Europe’s real identity can only be formed by Europe. Being a European is to share a common culture,” he said.

Stating that he hopes to sign the draft on EU Constitution on December 2003 in Rome, Berlusconi said that the draft has to own Europe’s common institutions, security, politics and military factors and lead the whole world’s democracy and freedom.

Meanwhile, Rome police has taken security measures due to the anti-globalist protests.
