Barzani happy with Turkkish PM’s Iraq remarks
ABU DABI – Iraqi Kurdistan Democracy Party (KDP) leader Masoud Barzani said today that he was happy to hear that Turkey was reconsidering its decision to send troops to Iraq to serve as peacekeepers.
Speaking to journalists in United Arab Emirates, Barzani said that Iraq did not want any troop presence from neighboring countries, including Turkey, adding that any such move would create trouble for coalition troops.
He said they had brotherly relations with Turkey, but found any Turkish military presence in Iraq unacceptable, adding that this was the opinion of whole Iraq, not an individual Kurd.
