Barazani asks Moussa for support on refusing Turkish forces
The chairman of the Kurdistani Democratic Party in Iraq and member of the Interim Governing Council Masoud al-Barazani said yesterday in Cairo following his meeting with the secretary general of the Arab league AL Amr Moussa "we have had asked the support of the AL for the decision which will be issued by the Iraqi Interim Governing council regarding the dispatch of Turkish forces or any troops from the neighboring countries to Iraq due to the sensitivities provoked by such forces in Iraq." He added that "Moussa promised to support any decision taken by the governing council concerning the dispatching of Turkish forces or any forces from neighboring states," considering that such atroops will only lead to "more tension in Iraq and will not ensure protection to any side."
This meeting, however, is the first between the two men especially as it is the first visit for al-Barazani since that the visit of his father al-Mulla Mustafa in 1958 to Egypt.
Al-Barazani arrived in Cairo on Thursday coming from Kuwait where he was welcomed, in his first visit to Kuwait, by the Amir and prime minister of Kuwait.
