Ball at Annan’s Court
The Turkish side informed the Secretary General that it was not satisfied about the arrangements in the plan concerning bizonality, transition period, cases opened by Greek Cypriots against the final agreement (They have already started suing Turkey at ECHR, said by Prof.Hakan Baykal) and derogations.
The Greek Cypriot Administration raised objections to the existence of the Turkish troops in Cyprus and demanded increase in the number of Greeks that will return to the North and removal of restrictions. Diplomatic sources said that the ball was at the UN Court now and that; the sides were trying to influence the Secretary General, through EU countries and U.S. In this context, PM Erdogan might have another talk today with U.S. President Bush and meet once more with EU Commissioner Gunther Verheugen.
