Azerbaijan Stall TRNC Recognition

Emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Eruygur stressed that he believed in the sincerity president Aliyev’s remark concerning "one nation, two states." Aliyev explained that the Azerbaijani armed forces had used the Turkish military system as a model.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Halef Halefov, who evaluated Eruygur’s suggestion for TRNC recognition, said that the subject was a difficult one and that negotiations would need to continue within the framework of the United Nations (UN) in order to resolve the issue in the most favorable manner. Halefov also stated that TRNC recognition would not take place in the near future.
