Azerbaijan opposed to Turkey reopening gate with Armenia
A recent article in the Turkish Daily News has said the Turkish military is also feeling that it is time to open the gate with Armenia and that work is underway to introduce the issue at a National Security Council (MGK) meeting in the near future.
Turkey closed its border gate with Armenia and cut diplomatic ties, and said normalization of ties with this country depends on Armenia’s ending its occupation in the Azeri territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, stopping the backing of Armenian Diaspora claims of Armenian genocide and signing a border agreement with Turkey.
The statement from the Azerbaijani Embassy said the gate would not be opened before these conditions were met by Armenia.
"The only desire of the Yerevan administration, which pays no attention to peace and stability in our region, and of the Armenian lobby that supports it is to realize the dream of ‘Greater Armenia’," the statement from the Azerbaijani Embassy said.
"It is already time for the Yerevan administration to stop its occupation in Karabakh and lies of a genocide and take some good-intentioned steps," it continued.
