Attempt to put Turkish alphabet on the EU’s agenda
During talks with a delegation led by the Economic Development Foundation (IKV) Chairman Davut Okutcu in Brussels, the issue was brought up by those who feel uneasy about the reforms conducted in Turkey.
Observers in the EU do not keep it a secret that there are those, who are making efforts to bring the Turkish alphabet issue to light. They have mentioned that the names of the Greek and Jewish minorities are being written in Turkish letters such as "Jak."
During his talks in Brussels, Okutcu said complaining about the Turkish alphabet would hardly be a sign of goodwill and it was just an artificial dispute.
Some circles complained that the Kurdish were using Kurdish names in Turkey but the lack of letters such as "w,q and x" in the Turkish alphabet was creating problems.
